Craving a beach getaway? Then head to Bondi Beach! One of Australia’s most famous beaches, Bondi is a destination worth packing your swimmers for when you come to Sydney. A stay in one of our Bondi Beach hotels offers you the chance to see what all the fuss is about.
Bondi Beach’s name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “water breaking over rocks”, and your first look at the area will make it obvious why. The ocean’s turquoise waters crash over the beach’s golden sands and the grey boulders that form its lagoons, creating a stunning contrast of colours. Needless to say, the hundreds of visitors also add a splash of colour to the scene. Join them in enjoying the beach’s natural beauty, whether it’s by snorkelling, surfing, swimming or simply relaxing on the shore with a good book in hand. Don’t forget your sunscreen and sunnies!
However, it’s also possible to enjoy Bondi Beach without getting wet and sandy. Bring your joggers and go for a walk along the promenade and enjoy the views of the ocean, or if you have more time to spare, head on the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. The 6km walk takes about two hours to complete - or more if you get sidetracked by the many cafes and lookout points along the way. The track is especially worthy of a stroll during the Sculpture by the Sea event in November. Once you get to Coogee, reward yourself with a swim at the beach before heading back. Consider yourself fit? Then enter the City to Surf Fun Run in August, a 14km run from Bondi Beach to the Sydney CBD.
Fancy giving your wallet a workout instead? Then Westfield Bondi Junction is the place for you. With six levels and over 400 retailers including department stores like David Jones and Myer, it’s a wonderful place to be, especially if you want to find some new swimmers before hitting the surf again. For unique shopping experience the Bondi Markets, held every Sunday, is a must-do. Check out fashion and accessories by local designers or purchase vintage homewares and gifts to remember your trip by.
No matter what you get up to in Bondi, you’re sure to get hungry. Head to Campbell Parade, the main strip facing the beach, for a wide range of tasty options that are sure to fill you up. Whether you’re craving fish and chips, burritos, fresh seafood, Asian or just coffee and a cake, Campbell Parade has it all. Bondi Beach has a bustling nightlife scene as well, with many bars, clubs and pubs to suit whatever atmosphere you crave.
