Escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and relax in our Mt Tamborine accommodation. Less than an hour’s drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Mt Tamborine is a picturesque area renowned for its natural beauty and country hospitality. Mt Tamborine (also known as Tamborine Mountain or Mount Tamborine) is the largest town in the Gold Coast Hinterland and offers visitors plenty to do and see.
The best shopping is at the Gallery Walk shopping precinct, with over 70 shops offering everything from local arts and crafts, trinkets, fashion, and jewellery and almost everything in between. Many artists call Mt Tamborine home, so naturally there’s some great art galleries and artists studio’s to visit. The Mount Tamborine Country Markets are held on the second Sunday of each month at the Tamborine Mountain Showgrounds. With over 200 stalls the markets offer a great range of craft, art, clothes and jewellery as well as locally grown produce and homemade foodie treats.
Mt Tamborine also has a number of boutique food producers. The Witches Chase Cheese Company offers a great range of cheese, ice cream and yogurt produced with milk from a diary at the nearby Scenic Rim. For a sugar overload head to Granny Mac’s Fudge Store where you can choose from over fifty varieties of fudge, all handmade on site.
While you’re in town, visit the iconic St Bernards Hotel for classic pub fare, beautiful gardens and views over the Guanaba Gorge. If you’re lucky you might meet Molly and Leo, the two St Bernard dogs that call the hotel home. Another must see on the mountain is Songbirds Restaurant, one of Queensland’s most awarded restaurants. Bookings are essential!
Thirsty? Then head to the Mt Tamborine Brewery, for great views, food and, of course, beer. If that doesn’t quench your thirst, the family-run Tamborine Mountain Distillery is Australia’s most internationally awarded and offers a huge range of liqueurs and spirits. Mt Tamborine is also home to a number of wineries. Cheers!
No visit to Mt Tamborine is complete without soaking in the stunning natural beauty of the town and surrounding region. Tamborine National Park is Queensland’s oldest national park and has delighted visitors with its lush rainforest walks and spectacular views since 1908. View the rainforest from the top of the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk. 300 metres of elevated walkway guides walkers through the upper and middle canopies of the rainforest, at times soaring up to 30 metres above the valley. If that’s not enough to get your heart racing then the high ropes course at the Adventure Parc sure will.
