Perth Destination guide

Perth is Australia's sunniest capital city, averaging about 3000 hours of sunshine a year. These are the ideal conditions to experience its unique blend of shopping malls, beach, parklands and more.

If you like your shopping adventures to overflow with choice, Centro Galleria is the place to go. With 220 shops under one roof and over 20 places to relax with a coffee (hooray!), you're limited only by the size of your budget and the amount of caffeine you can handle. Check out Murray Street and Hay Street in the heart of the CBD for even more bargains.

Want to go to the beach? No problem. Western Australia has over 12,000kms of coastline to explore. Less than 20 minutes from Perth CBD you’ll find Cottesloe and Scarborough, two of the city’s most popular beachside suburbs. For a full-on island escape, head to Rottnest Island where you can swim, surf, dive and snorkel the day away. Perth is also the gateway to the beautiful beaches of South West WA. There aren’t many places in Australia where you can enjoy the sand and the surf then take a quick drive down the road and visit a vineyard. Make your way to the Margaret River Wine Region, stop off for a swim at Bunker Bay or Yallingup, and finish the day with some wine tasting. Does it get any better than that? Perth is the perfect place to whale watch and guided tours are available from Broome, Fremantle, Rottnest Island and more. From September to November you can watch these incredible creatures from the coast of Perth as they return from the north, and from July to October see them at play in King George Sound, Albany. For a romantic getaway, Swan Valley is just 20kms from the CBD and features vineyards, distilleries and food and wine tours.
